Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”
This week, Melina takes us on a journey through her school days, filled with laughter, challenges, and unforgettable experiences. At The Arc of Midland, we believe that everyone deserves the chance to grow, learn, and connect with others. Melina’s story highlights the importance of creating opportunities for inclusion, whether it’s through education, community programs, or simply having fun. By working together and encouraging everyone to get involved, we can continue building a community where there is true inclusion.

Health and wellness, woodshop, history, English, Learning strategy, Lifelong Fitness, Band, Social Studies. I learned a lot about Health and wellness because we learned about health and what are Green flags / red flags of relationships and how important it is. Because it is good to learn on the good or not good!
Food Nutrition, we made a lot of food. We watched videos on green flags. VRS reads flags because it is a very big one in the world.and one you shouldn't do to an infant i loved lifelong fitness. For our exam we had to run a mile. I stopped my friends saying you got this but they ran with me. I kept going. But I didn't like getting hit in my face with a medicine ball. Nobody gives me medical help. Luckily, I saved my teeth. It wasn't good, but somebody apologized to me from that day on and I forgave him. In science I gave my teacher a gift. They were bubern balls. I said this is for you but he passed it around his whole classroom not knowing it was alcohol. I bet the parents would not like that my other teacher has Hissing Cockroaches in his cage in the classroom. One time I left my drama class I saw a cockroach. It got out and scared me. It was gone. I had drama so I was in plays.I couldn't memorize my lines so i got laughed at and booed. My face turned very red.and i was embarrassed. I enjoyed Band for 4 years. I had my fancy cart and different instruments. I enjoyed it! We did pep bands, games, and marched down the halls. I got lost. I was a Flag carrier ! and Assemblies. I got lost also because it was so packed. I loved going to homecoming/ prom because I love to dance! Prom was my favorite to get so fancy and a corsage. I loved school. I graduated high school in 2012 before COVID came then I took a few classes at Northwood, until they said I couldn’t take them anymore. I took a speech class, and a hotel management class and I had a ton of pizza. I went to their basketball games, every time I got sprite and popcorn. I did a pep band there and I loved my experience. Thanks !
I did zumba there, also it was called peer to peer! Program.
I did a lot with my mentor. We helped out finding good programs for people who want to join in. We all want to be inclusive because we want people to come out and get out in the community doing fun things. So everybody wouldn't be left out. Midland county never Excluded everybody! Everybody should be included in our Programs. Because we think of a bigger picture. And keep thriving everyday! So important that everybody is included in spreading the word out. Encourage everybody to join! We provide these programs to get them out and about then just staying at home not doing anything with their life. And it is good to be out socializing and having fun, which we all need to do! To have everybody involved making sure they're enjoying themselves too!
