Teaching Zumba

Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”

This week, Melina shares her journey as a certified Zumba instructor and how it’s helped her stay healthy, active, and connected with others. Without further ado…

I am a certified zumba instructor, and sometimes co-teach at the Greater community center. I used to have my own class but nobody came often enough. I love zumba. It is a fun thing everybody is all of welcome! I used to teach Mondays and Wednesdays. It is a great way to exercise and is fun. If you look it up it will tell you what time. Is a drop in i have been doing zumba for about 8 years i did zumba for that long when i was in Elementary school Zumba came to teach us then i went to classes then i had all day training in New Baltimore Michigan it was tiring i did it, i passed it and Im certified i love zumba it helped me lose 15 pounds i was so proud of myself. I keep thriving every single day pushing myself. I got this and I enjoy doing it. I am good at it. I am staying fit, that's why I'm staying healthy. I enjoy what I do and show them how to do zumba. Anybody can do zumba. My quote is you can be anything in life as long you work hard for it. Don't let people tell you otherwise. Always believe in yourself. Remember that ! All of the teachers put it on videos so I can do it at home. At first it is hard , that's great they do that for me. It's a cool thing to do. I can do it right on youtube. And I love it is so fun to get your body moving and your blood pumping. Everybody can do it; it's your work out and your own pace. It is fun exercise, because it's about having fun, making some noise, dancing your heart away or dancing the night away and losing weight. Having a party and having a good time!
