A Time I Overcame A Challenge

Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”

This week, Melina shares a powerful story about overcoming her fear of hospitals. By facing and conquering this significant challenge, she not only transformed her fear into strength but also discovered a deeper appreciation for the healthcare workers who keep us safe every day. Melina’s experience illustrates the importance of inclusion, courage, and gratitude—which are core themes at The Arc of Midland.

Without further ado…

I used to have a fear of hospitals when the doctor came in and out. I was very scared of IVs and gas masks putting me under. After I woke up my face turned red and I was crying. I had a lot of comfort being surrounded by people. I don't like the cherry medicine they gave me. I couldn't stop Gagging I refused to lay on the bed. I had to sit on the chair. Then after overcoming my fears I decided to get a job there. I worked there for a long time until COVD then I stopped. Now I am going back to the hospital, volunteering again. I overcame A big challenge. I am so glad I did that big challenge. I am very thankful for Hospitals and all they do! Is very amazing everyday and the body does amazing things - disgusting too. I am very thankful we have excellent care .not many people who aren't appreciative are very sad. They do so much to save everybody's lives every single day !

People need to be thankful of them keeping everybody safe and think of the bigger picture
