Being Thankful
Melina B is an employee at The Arc of Midland. She makes the office much more fun, and we love seeing her each day. Melina is authoring the blog, and “spilling the tea” about all sorts of things while sharing her perspective! Follow along as Melina posts each Monday for “Mondays with Melina.”
This week, Melina shares why being thankful is so important for the community. At The Arc of Midland, gratitude and inclusion go hand in hand. They’re about noticing, valuing, and celebrating what makes each person unique, which brings people together and strengthens our community.
Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on how we support one another—whether through friendships, family, or the resources that help make our community thrive. By appreciating the diversity of people and perspectives around us, we can break down barriers and build a stronger, more compassionate community where everyone feels valued and supported.
Gratitude reminds us to celebrate the contributions of every individual, inspiring kindness and understanding for those who need it most. Together, we can ensure that everyone has a place at the table—this Thanksgiving and beyond.
Without further ado…
Well is important because it means that we are all thankful for what we have in the community. There's so much to be thankful for in our county, like I am thankful for my job, my family, friends, health care team, 911,shelter, my pet, rotary, my staff providers, showers, power, most importantly sleep, shots, wonderful gift dating, marriage, little ones. Food, not everybody is thankful, that is very sad, is good to be thankful because when we are it makes us feel good and our wellbeing, it makes us stronger because it makes our mental health so so good. If some people that are not thankful your life would be completely downhill and not being appreciative of what you have it would be harder and twirling your thumbs i am thankful for 911 because they work hard saving every single day peoples lives. Not everybody likes shots but they are very very very Important so we all stay safe and think of a bigger picture. People come first! If we didn't be thankful to our community we all would have a sad life! That's why it is so important because don't take life for granted. If we didn't have a wonderful lift we would all be very lonely and not having a partner would be a hard life. Life is so short. Let's be thankful everyday and be thankful for everything in the community and helping somebody in need! Since Thanksgiving is coming up I thought to share this to everybody! Take this to hearts, thank you! It is very important to say what we are thankful for every thanksgiving because there's a lot to be thankful for in our country. That's why everybody celebrates it every year! And spending time with family. Having a good holiday. My favorite things are watching the parade, having a big dinner and of course dessert too. And black Friday. That day I like to put my Christmas tree up and enjoy it when I can, before I have to I take it down! My favorite hobby is baking cookies. It's fun! Decorating them. And the Christmas joy. I love all of the holidays because everybody comes home. Have some good food, do fun activities or watch movies, and a hot tub sitting by the fire! And I love celebrating because seeing family and having delicious food that my mom makes gets all comfy or sometimes we play Air hokey. I laugh every time because my goalie sometimes plays funny games too. I am a people person and it's very good for me. Because full circle I get sad when I am isolated sometimes but when I do see people it is very good for my wellbeing! It makes me feel happy, good, safe, excited, cheery, all the above and I also love facebook because of the big connection!
