The Arc of Midland is excited to offer Sibshops to the families of Midland!
What is the event? SibShops are fantastic events designed specifically for the siblings of children of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This program is geared toward kids between the ages of 8 and 13, to join in celebrating their unique role as brothers and sisters. Additionally, the events are free!
Why this is important: These high-energy events combine peer support, education, and activities—with the intention of creating a positive atmosphere for siblings.
The Arc of Midland’s Sibshops Mission
The Arc recognizes that siblings play an important role in the lives of their brother or sister with IDD. It is crucial that siblings are supported so that they can be the best advocate and sibling possible. To achieve this goal, they must have access to information and resources to help them make informed decisions – whatever their involvement.
Many of us at The Arc know firsthand what it is like to grow up with a family member with IDD. We understand and share the vision you have for a healthy, full, and independent life for your sibling.
